Two Klipsch surround systems for a private cinema, compared

A private cinema asks something different of its speakers than a living room does. The seats are fixed, the room is built around the screen, and the sound can be voiced for one listening position. Klipsch answers both ways: the THX-5000, a six-piece set designed for cinema-grade playback, and the Reference pack, floorstanders with Dolby Atmos that arrive with their own receiver and suit a room that also lives as a lounge.

What we are paid does not decide what we recommend or how we rank it. Merchant links are added to picks the Site has already made, and a Product with no commercial relationship is ranked on the same terms as one that has one.

Prices and availability are set by the merchant and change frequently. We show a price only while our reading of it is still current by that merchant's own policy, and show a link to the merchant instead of a number whenever it is not.
